Momo — Privacy Policy

Momo is a curated collection of short interactive experiences, made by an individual developer ("we", "Cem Aksoy"). This policy covers the current version of the app.

1. What we collect

• No account. Momo has no sign-up and asks for no name, email or phone number. The first time you play, our server (hosted by Supabase in Frankfurt, Germany) creates a random identifier for your device. Your device keeps it in its Keychain, so reinstalling the app doesn't restart the free trial; the server stores only a hash of it. To stop the free trial from being claimed over and over, the server also keeps a salted hash of your IP address for 2 days.
• Play records. To run the weekly battery, the server records which game you started and when, how much battery it used, and for each AI reply its size in tokens and its cost. These records are deleted after 180 days, or when you delete your data. A device that hasn't played for 180 days and has no subscription is deleted entirely.
• Local preferences. Things like your recently opened experiences and haptics setting are stored only on your device (iOS UserDefaults), never uploaded anywhere.
• Purchases. Momo Plus subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple's App Store (StoreKit). We never see or store your payment details. So the right device gets Plus, the app sends our server the purchase record Apple signed; the server checks Apple's signature, asks Apple for the subscription's status and keeps its transaction identifier and expiry date with your device's identifier. Restoring purchases on another iPhone adds it to the same subscription.

2. AI experiences and OpenAI

Alibi, Aura Check, Know-It-All, Late Night Caller, Read My Mind and Sweet Talk are powered by OpenAI. With your permission, the text you type in a game (and the earlier messages of the same game) goes from your device to our server, which passes it to OpenAI's API to generate the next reply. We don't attach any identifier to what we send OpenAI, but anything you type yourself is included. Our server doesn't store what you type; it keeps each reply for retry handling; the scheduled cleanup removes replies older than one hour, only so a dropped connection can be retried without charging you twice, then deletes the text and keeps only its size and cost. OpenAI processes this data under its own privacy policy. Please don't type sensitive personal information into these experiences.

Images in Read My Mind

For animal, food and place answers, Read My Mind may request an article title and a CC0 or public-domain image from Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons. These providers receive the requested title and normal connection information, such as your IP address. Momo does not attach your local identifier or game conversation to those requests. If no eligible image is available, the card uses Momo's own artwork. Their processing is described in the Wikimedia privacy policy. No photo-library or camera access is used for this feature.

3. What we don't do

We do not sell or rent your data or use it for advertising tracking. We share data with the service providers described in this policy to operate the app. Our server is used only for the free trial, the battery, Momo Plus and passing game messages to OpenAI as described above. Local preferences, like recently opened games and haptics, stay on your device.

4. Your choices

You can delete your data in Momo under Settings > Your Data > Delete My Data. This deletes your device's identifier, your play records and any stored reply text from our server right away. Your device then remembers that its free trial was used, so it doesn't start a new one. If you subscribe, how much of the subscription's weekly battery and AI cost was used is kept with the subscription's transaction identifier (not with your device) through the subscription-usage cleanup window (older than two weeks is removed on the scheduled cleanup), so all your devices share one weekly allowance. You can also turn off AI conversations in Settings at any time. Deleting your data or the app does not cancel Momo Plus; you can manage or cancel it in your Apple account's subscription settings, and Restore Purchases brings it back. 5. Children's privacy

Momo is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

6. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll update the effective date above and, where required, notify you in the app.

Service providers and international processing

Supabase hosts our game server in Frankfurt, Germany. Apple handles payments and subscription status. OpenAI processes game messages under its own service terms and retention practices; Momo does not promise zero retention by these providers. OpenAI privacy · Supabase privacy · Apple privacy. Website hosting is provided by Cloudflare and can process normal request information such as IP addresses for delivery and security. Cloudflare privacy.

When you email support, we receive your email address and the message you send to respond to your request. Do not send passwords, payment-card details or API keys.
